Meet the teacher

My name is Sarah Sobry and I have a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science in geography - environmental studies with a minor in geology.
Teaching is a privilege that I take very seriously. I believe learning is a lifelong process grounded in our formative years. Children are innately curious about life and their environment, and I believe it is my job as an educator to help guide them to essential questions that allow for discovery and understanding. Learning from experience builds confidence and develops the ability to think, analyze and interpret the world around us, and each of my lessons incorporates this philosophy.
I have a strong academic background and was on the Dean's honour roll during my university career. I have proven skills in science and technology and easily make cross curricular connections to each in other subject areas I teach. I understand that today's students live in a technological world, and I incorporate a tech component into nearly all of my lessons to increase engagement, curiosity and understanding. In all subjects I focus on teaching skills to ask rich questions and how to investigate the answers both on and offline. This year I am excited to be able to add a document camera and digital microscope to my classroom!
